I was given an assignment to develop myself as a photographer and to outline where I thought was my weakest areas of photography so I could work to improve these,

I would like to achieve enhancing my knowledge of these areas:

On Location photo shoots
An insight into the photography industry
Lighting effects
Editing/Graphics Tablet

Personal Development Plan

Week one Development

The first week of receiving this brief I decided to keep a record of my achievements and list how I have progressed in the areas I have chosen to develop on.

As you can see I have chosen the following:

• On Location
• Editing
• Lighting
• Industry

On Location photo shoots

I have chosen this because I want to gain a greater understanding of the photography industry in terms of going out and photographing events such as wedding, parties, christening, bands etc. 

I intend to achieve this by advertising and see if people are interested in hiring me as a photographer on location photo shoots or at a venue.

An insight into the photography industry

My choice for involving this is to see if I can photograph a private event in the real world and see if the client likes my images, as you can see with option works in hand with the on Location I find that the best way of learning is going out and doing it yourself, therefore whilst your photographing you also learn how to get guests together or where you need to be for framing the picture. You also have another skill set which is also at play with is the comfort ability of you and your clients. I’ve found even with little experience that if you’re calm collected and not stressing it’s a great experience and is an enjoyable career.

Product Photography/Lighting effects

I have also have an interest in product photography and how everything advertised looks so flawless. For this section for my personal development I wanted to research into product photography and the lighting set up to find the secrets to the flawless advertising images.

I intend on looking at websites with product photography, looking into books for lighting setups and looking at advertisements .I am going to be photographing some items in the studio and experimenting with lighting setup and also using suggested lighting layouts from my research for my subject. 

Editing 

My decision for putting editing in was to get a chance to edit in other ways to my usual style I will be researching how different photographers edit there images if they use Photoshop or not.

I also wanted to experiment and use the Wacom Bamboo graphics tablet to edit some of my product photography final images for touching up, again I will be looking into how people use the graphics tablet and how photographers use them.
